Program Director, Beautiful People

Beautiful People was founded in 2006 with a vision of a community sports organization that would enable joy, inspire hope, and fulfill dreams among children with disabilities and their families. We see that vision playing out in significant positive changes observed by parents as to their child’s socialization, self-esteem, coordination, agility and mobility.

We are looking for a Program Director to help execute our mission, vision and values.  The Program Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the organization's consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. In program development and administration, working with the League Management Committee the Program Director will:

  • Assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.
  • See that an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession, is in place.
  • Promote active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of the organization's work, recruiting players, coaches, & teen buddies.  Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse group of top-quality people.
  • Encourage volunteer development and education and assist program staff in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization.
  • Source and maintain relationships with facilities to host sports seasons and off-season events, inclusive of scheduling and providing necessary insurance.
  • Maintain official records and documents, working with the Board Secretary, Treasurer and Financial Administrator, ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Source the community for partnerships that enhance the bandwidth of the organization’s mission.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in non-profit management and the special needs community.
  • Utilize input from timely parent and volunteer surveys to strengthen relations, and upgrade features and benefits of programming for maximum satisfaction of those served.

The qualifications for this role are:

  • Two or more years nonprofit management experience.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
  • Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Ability to convey a vision of Beautiful People’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to nonprofit sector.
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.
  • A bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
